Instructions for Poster Awards
There will be poster awards in five categories. Below follow their
descriptions, and instructions regarding the selection procedures.
1. The Programme Committee's Best Poster Award is chosen by the
PC; there will be two awards.
2. The People's Choice Award is determined by general democratic
vote; there will be two awards. Every registered participant has two
votes, one for the Monday, another one for the Tuesday poster session.
You find the two ballot cards in the conference pack; they bear
your registration number to make sure that no-one votes more than
once in each session. Just write the number of the poster (including
the session: a for Monday, b for Tuesday) on the card and put it
into the ballot box at the conference desk. (Example: '1729a' means
poster number 1729 in the Monday session.) Deadline is Tuesday,
11 January, by the end of the poster session. The winners will be
chosen according to majority, ties broken by random draw.
3. The Alice+Bob Award for Original Imagery is intended to honour
inventive graphic design on the actual poster. The winner will be chosen
by a secret committee, but every participant is invited to make
nominations (preferably with attached picture) to [email protected], until Tuesday, 11 January, by the end of the poster session.
4.+ 5. The Most Hilarious Typo Award and the Massive Use of Acronyms
Award (MUAA) may test the limits of your sense of humour.
They also allow those who don't present a poster of their own to win
something: Please send nominations (preferably with attached picture)
to [email protected], until Tuesday, 11 January, by the
end of the poster session. The winners will be chosen by a secret
committee; note that there will be a prize in each of the two categories
both for the winning poster and for the finder. Don't worry,
no-one will make fun of you - at least not without your permission.
Awards (along with material prizes) will be presented at the conference
social dinner on Wednesday evening. The nature of the actual
prizes will be revealed then.
